Christmas

Christmas is only 9 days away. The weather man on the news today said there is no chance of snow for Christmas. How that bums me out..... I really like snow because it helps "believe in the magic of Christmas". I like to watch those movies where it always seems that everyone is happy on Christmas and then the snow starts to fall. Only in the movies....

Today here it is rainy & kinda warm, low 50's, sure doesn't seem like December. I can remember when I was younger that it seemed to always snow around Christmas. Boy, things have changed, not only doesn't it snow the people at the stores are so intense, they aren't friendly anymore. I was in a store the other day and turned the corner at the end of an aisle and nearly collided with some lady, I told her I was sorry and she said it was nice that someone spoke to her finally because she was in the store for over and hour and not one single person said a word to her. I said it's sad that people are in such big rushes that they no longer have time to be friendly and speak to anyone. We each agreeded that the spirit of Christmas is no longer in today's society, that everyone seems to either be grumpy or just not sociable. Sometimes I wish we could go back in time to enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas. People nowadays seen more like Grinches and always in a hurry. Don't they know the expression: "stop to smell the roses". Sometimes it takes for something to happen before people realise that there's more to life than rushing around.

Now I guess I'll get off my soapbox and tell you......
Until next time................"SMELL THE ROSES" Enjoy this Christmas Season...

I'm Back.................

Well, I'm finally back to blogging --- Yahoo!!!

Thanksgiving is over and things are getting busy for the Christmas Season. I hope when you go shopping you set yourself a budget and stay within that budget. I know how easy it is to see wonderful deals and think you can afford it plus stay within the budget, but don't fool yourself, you must passover that tempation.

I have already decorated my home for Christmas because I like to sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas.

The guys went hunting today but were not able to get a deer. They said they didn't even see a squirrel. They said it was warm and nothing was moving, hopfully tomorrow they can get one. I know for this time of year it is very warm and don't even seem light Christmas is near.

until next time,

Spring.............

I was hoping that spring was here since last week it was 60 degrees and now today we have sleet, rain and tonight SNOW. I am so anxious to get outside and enjoy the sunshine but I guess it has to wait again. I did go out last week when it was warm and did a little shopping for some spring ideas for my home and a show I am participating in with my friend.

My grandkids school activities are coming to a close. We go next month to my grandson's districts for swimming. He swims the 200 free and 500 free for his school. We are so proud of him!!! My grand-daughter's all city concert is also next month, she plays the clarinet and does it very well. I could not play that instrument if I tried. We are so proud of her also!!!!

This is short but I have limited time to post right now since I have projects to complete.

Until next time......................

The snow arrived the other day and we did not get to much....three inches. But it's really cold here and when the wind blows it takes your breathe away. I guess people are getting tired of winter already. So like them I have been browsing the internet and visited some forums, etc and found that people are thinking of spring already. I like spring because everything starts to bloom again, I hate the drab look of winter when the trees are bare and no color just that boring dead brown. So when spring arrives you sees the buds of the lilac trees and everything starts to green up.

I have a show coming up in March, we call our "Country Spring Show". It's held at a friend's house where people bring their creations (must be handmade) and they are set in vingettes, then she opens her house to the public for three days and people come and purchase the items. This is what they call an Open House. But these people are so creative and their work is wonderful and especially since it's handmade. I really think that's the selling point to the public because where can you go nowdays to be able to purchase anything handmade. Most of the stores (even the country stores around here) are purchasing items that are mass produced and/or made in China. So I make it my goal to attend a show that offers handmade items. As the time draws near I will share more of the people's work and hopefully some pictures.

Until next time..............

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe that the holidays are over already. The new year is a good time to start making plans to post more often on my blogs. I hope I can do that with the day to day things going on in my life, but I will make an effort to set time aside to do regular postings.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. My husband and I have decided since it's getting harder & harder to buy each other presents that this year we would purchase new furniture for our home. I am so pleased that we've done that and am so excited to get the new stuff. I already am trying to think of how I am going to redecorate our bedroom, we have had the same color, etc in our room since we moved in this house and it's about time to update, so what better time to do that then now.

So until next time, take care.......

More Pictures Coming

I posted some pictures of things but I will post some more later. I will show you some of my vintage Christmas tree ornaments. In some of the pictures you will see some putz houses, the small ones are the original ones, the bigger ones on the boxes were purchased this year at a landscaping place called "Adlers" in my hometown. Jeff Adler does some great vintage type displays and his merchandise is to die for. He always picks the right types of things to sell at Christmas, even his garlands are great and some really primitive ones.

So take care and until next time..........
